DALLAS -- The Dallas City Council unanimously approved a toy gun ban on Wednesday, but the current version isn't nearly as strong as earlier proposals. The proposed ordinance bans people from brandishing replica firearms in a public place. The law also makes it illegal for someone to remove the bright-colored tip. Further, the proposal also makes it illegal to attach laser pointers to the toy guns as well as blocking the sale of the guns on ice cream trucks.
The new law is somewhat weaker than what was proposed a year ago, but it does have the backing of the Dallas Police Department. The new law doesn't mandate that toy guns be colored white, bright orange, green, yellow, pink, purple or translucent or transparent.Violators are subject to a Class C Misdemeanor and a $500 fine.
The part about the ice cream truck seemed a bit silly to me. I can only imagine a person going up to the local ice cream truck and their order sounding like this.
"Hi, I would like the mint chocolate chip cone and could I see that toy glock?"
" I think I will get the cone and the m-16 there."
tanks or um thanks.
oh well crazy laws are passed every day.
enjoy.

winter without christmas?
- "always winter and never Christmas." this was the condition of the magical land of Narnia before the Aslan came and brought Christmas and freedom. This made me think since the "real" world has also been brought out of perpetual winter through Christmas. What other gifts did the Great King who's birthday we celebrate on Christmas, give to us?

"with out sacrifice there is no victory"
this made me think what sacrifices do I have in my life and to what ends. Then an even weightier thought hit me my life has been made possible because of sacrifices starting first with Jesus sacrifice. He gave up the joy, pleasure, prestige, and so much more to come to earth and live like low wage worker under a repressive military regime so He could heal people physically, socially, spiritually, mentally, and teach us what it is to live life free and full. this is not just some I am living on the run sort of freedom. This is turn around and face the agent smiths and take back the world because we are so happy type of free and full life.
What sacrifice do I make to follow the One who set me free and gave me victory?
It makes me stop and think about what I do with my time, money, and skills.
Well that is all the thought I have for now.

I found this one by Richard Big.

it reminded me of something I had read in the book "Out of the Silent Planet" after the main character had been kidnapped and brought in to space for the first time.
"There was endless night on one side of the ship and endless day on the other: each was marvellous and he moved from one to the other at his will, delighted. In the nights, which he could create by the turning the handle of a door, he lay for hours in contemplation of the skylight. The Earth's disk was no where to be seen; the stars, thick as daisies on an uncut lawn, reigned perpetually with no cloud, no moon, no sunrise to dispute there sway. There were planets of unbelievable majesty, and constellations undreamed of: there were celestial sapphires, rubies, emeralds and pin-pricks of gold; far out on the left of the picture hung a comet, tiny and remote: and between all and behind all, a far more emphatic and palpable than it showed on Earth, the undimensioned, enigmatic blackness. "In these times when there seems to be plenty of negativity it is nice to look up at the night sky, pics such as the one above, and many other grand and majestic things and realize hope.
the photo is by Richard Big.
the quote is from chapter 5 "out of the silent planet" by C.S. Lewis

Then something that the character V said hit me. Words have meanings, and they give ideas power and shape. (this is a paraphrase forgive if it is not exact)
There are many these days who seem to bypass the meanings to words and go for hot word or key phrases to strike an emotional response. It seems that very few people are letting the whole idea/thought be given it's form. This does not allow for good emotional reinforcement of ideas. It instead leads to a lot of raw emotions. This allows very little reason to prevail.
well that is all the thought for now.
